President Kennedy was riding in a limousine with his wife, Jacqueline. At about 12:30, Kennedy was shot. He was shot once in the shoulder and once in the head. Ten seconds after the first shots had been fired the president's car accelerated off at high speed towards Parkland Memorial Hospital. He had a massive wound to the head and at 1 p.m. he was declared dead. Within two hours of the assassination, Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested. The governor, John Connally, also was shot. He had a wound in the back, wrist, chest and thigh. Home
